Ich hatte eine reiche Tante,
die keine Not im leben kannte.
Von ihr bekam in schwerster Not
Ich niemals auch ein Stückchen Brot.
Gut, dass ich noch`ne Tante hatte.
Sie wohnte in der ärmsten Kate.
Von ihr ging nie ich hungrig fort,
und war´s auch nur ein gutes Wort.
Wenn sie´s mir gab, so wusste ich:
heut` hat sie auch nicht mehr für sich.
Jetzt geht´s mir gut, ich kann nicht klagen.
Vorbei sind jene schweren tage.
Doch teil ich heut`noch die Bekannten
In arme und in reiche Tanten.

Нужды не знала никогда,
Но от неё не получил я
Ни корки хлеба я тогда.
Зато другая моя тётя,
Бедней её вы не найдёте,
Со мной она без лишних слов
Делила хлеб, и соль, и кров.
Когда изба пуста была,
Дарила добрые слова.
Прошли те трудные года,
Но и теперь я, как тогда,
Делю людей, мой принцип чёток.
На бедных и богатых тёток.
